A little cove that not everyone knows about yet
The summer months in Mallorca, especially around the south-west and Palma, can get pretty loud and busy. When I fancy a quiet cove, I like heading to Caló d’en Monjo.
The cove is a little off the beaten track, and that’s exactly what I like about it.
There’s a fairly large car park, although unfortunately it was closed the last time I visited. From there, it’s not far down to the cove. The walk down is more of a little stroll than a proper hike.
Once you get down there, there’s a small pebble beach waiting for you. There are also several spots around the cove where you can get straight into the water.
One of the things I really like about Caló d’en Monjo is how much shade there is. Especially in summer, that’s worth its weight in gold.
And because the cove is fairly secluded, I also like bringing Lilly here in summer. There are usually even one or two other dogs around.
The cove doesn’t really feel like a typical Mallorca beach. You’ll find lots of locals here, and they’re generally pretty open and relaxed. Somehow, the whole place has a bit of a hippie vibe, haha. It reminds me a little of Cala Deià.
What I particularly love is the emerald-green colour of the water. Especially when the sun is shining on it, it looks absolutely amazing.
For me, that makes Caló d’en Monjo the perfect place to come and simply chill out in summer – without all the hustle and bustle you get in so many other parts of Mallorca.
