Cala Deià, an evergreen at sunset
It’s quite interesting, and perhaps it’s actually a good thing, that most visitors tend to come to Cala Deià in the afternoon. By the evening, it becomes really peaceful and relaxed. 😉
That’s when I like the cove the most.
For me, Cala Deià has that really authentic and laid-back hippie vibe. It reminds me a little of Caló d’en Monjo – just with everything being a bit bigger and, of course, much better known.
Another thing I like about Cala Deià is that it doesn’t have that typical beach feel with sun loungers and all the hustle and bustle. The cove is rocky, a little wild and quite natural. That’s exactly what gives it its charm for me.
If you have a bit of time, I’d definitely make the short detour to the little viewpoint as well. Just before the cove, there’s a small set of steps going up on the right. There are already a few really lovely spots for photos along the way.
And if you fancy staying a little longer, there’s even an interesting holiday home right by Cala Deià with a beautiful pool that I once came across on YouTube. I can easily imagine the cove being almost completely empty around sunrise. 😉
That’s why Cala Deià is one of those little Mallorca classics for me. It’s certainly no secret and definitely not somewhere that nobody knows about – but in the evening, it suddenly feels like a completely different place.
So, especially around sunset, I always enjoy coming back here.
