Port des Canonge – one of my favourite little trips

Port des Canonge is one of my absolute favorite places in Mallorca – especially during golden hour, but honestly, it’s beautiful all year round.

Getting there is a bit of an adventure, haha. Just like at Port de Valldemossa, you head down a very narrow, twisty road towards the cove. The views are amazing – but probably best to keep your eyes on the road 😉

Even in summer, it can be surprisingly quiet here, especially during the week. I usually arrive around late afternoon or in the early evening, when things start to calm down a little.

When Lilly comes with me, I normally head left along the coast first. To the right, there’s a small beach with the fishermen’s boats. Unfortunately, dogs aren’t allowed there during the summer.

There are several spots along the coast where you can get into the water. Just be prepared for a bit of scrambling – in some places, you have to make your way over some fairly big rocks. Even Lilly manages to trip over them every now and then. The coastal path itself is generally really nice to walk with a dog.

Port des Canonge is beautiful during the Golden Hour.

The rocks and sand already have this lovely reddish colour, but when the sun sits lower in the late afternoon, everything becomes even more intense.

And if I’m already here, a visit to Can Madó is pretty much part of the trip. This little restaurant is run by a Mallorcan family and serves homemade Mediterranean food. I particularly love ordering the calamares salteados – although, to be honest, I’ve always had something good on my plate here.

For me, that’s exactly what makes Port des Canonge so special: it’s the kind of place where you can still find a bit of peace and quiet in Mallorca.
