Valldemossa in winter – mountains, art and little streets

For many of my friends and me, Valldemossa in winter is our go-to spot when we want to get out of Palma for a while. Because as busy as Valldemossa can be in summer, the place feels just as calm and relaxed in the colder months.

My Must-Do in Valldemossa

It’s the perfect time for a leisurely walk through the little streets. Even if you know Valldemossa well, you still seem to discover something new every now and then.

If you look a little more closely, you’ll also find the occasional shop selling home accessories, clothes and handmade products among all the souvenir shops. I particularly like the little galleries too, as they often feel much less commercial than the larger art galleries in Palma.

And an absolute must-do is a stop at Pastelería Ca’n Molinas. The café’s patio is really lovely, and everything we’ve eaten here so far has been delicious. Lilly is welcome too, by the way 😉 Once, when it was a little colder and all the Spaniards preferred to sit inside, we actually had the whole place to ourselves!

The Best Viewpoints in Valldemossa

If you walk along the street just below the church and turn right, you’ll eventually reach Mirador Miranda des Lladoners, one of the best-known viewpoints in Valldemossa. From here, you get a really lovely view across the whole valley and can even see a small part of Palma.

I also really like Port de Valldemossa, by the way. If you have a bit more time and happen to visit Valldemossa during the warmer months, it’s particularly worth the trip. Towards the end of summer, Valldemossa gets quite shady relatively early. Down at the harbour, on the other hand, the sun sets directly over the sea. And if it’s warm enough, there’s nothing wrong with taking a quick dip in the sea either. 😉

I particularly like Valldemossa in winter in the late afternoon or early morning. Depending on the time of day, the warm sunlight falls beautifully across the old stone houses and the church.

It’s quite interesting, and perhaps it’s actually a good thing, that most visitors tend to come to Cala Deià in the afternoon. By the evening, it becomes really peaceful and relaxed. 😉
