Albercutx Watchtower – Sunset over Formentor

You can either hike up from the Es Colomer viewpoint – although it’s quite a walk. Or you can continue driving up the road to the small car park. Once you’re there, parking and especially turning around can quickly become a little adventure of their own! 😉

For the mountain roads, I’d recommend hiring a small car with plenty of power. That way, you’ll have no trouble getting up there and it’s also easier to turn around at the top, haha. Here you can compare the latest car hire deals →

One detail I really like: when you walk up to the tower from the car park, you get a lovely view of Playa de Formentor along the way.

To the left of the car park – in the opposite direction – there’s another little path leading to a kind of measuring station. From there, you get a really cool view of the Albercutx Watchtower itself.

The watchtower is pretty impressive as it is. But it gets even better when you climb up and make your way onto the roof. From there, you get a 360-degree view across the whole Formentor peninsula and towards Pollença and Alcúdia.

For me, that makes the Albercutx Watchtower not just a beautiful place to visit, but also a really cool spot for watching the Sunset – ideally with a glass of wine in your bag. 😉

And for Lilly, it’s always particularly exciting because there are loads of mountain goats around here, which she obviously spots straight away. And, as always, she’s the absolute star with all the other visitors, haha.

For me, it’s always worth coming back – especially for sunset during the quieter months.
